US banking giant Citigroup is launching a pilot to get American employees back to the office.

According to ABC News, Citigroup is working with Chicago-area bank branch employees and New York Stock Exchange traders to see whether at-home COVID-19 tests could help people return to the workplace.

The tests are being provided by Innova Medical Group.

“This at-home COVID-19 testing program uses a rapid antigen test, which provides highly accurate results within 20 minutes,” Dr Lori Zimmerman, corporate medical director at Citi, told ABC News.

“The science is clear: frequent use of low-cost, simple, rapid tests is highly effective in identifying people who are currently infectious, even if they are asymptomatic.”

As part of the pilot, employees will need to take nose swabs three times during the week. Bella Health, a health assessment app, will notify direct managers in the event of a positive test result.

City has invited 1,000 of its employees to take part and hopes to expand the pilot to include all of its branch workers, potentially increasing participation to over 6,000 employees.

ABC News says a spokesperson for the bank said it was not planning to divulge details on associated expenses.

The news comes a few months after ServiceNow, which recently expanded its AI employe experience offering, offered its new workflow software to help with vaccine distribution.
