In stark contrast to other years, our diaries haven’t been filled with the usual Christmas cheer, work parties, and large gatherings with family and friends.
Christmas will be markedly different and while we hope you’re able to get some much-needed downtime, we wanted to round up some of the best content we’ve published over the past couple of months.
With this in mind, here are some of the top pieces that grabbed the HR community’s attention this year – all best devoured with a cup of hot, mulled wine in hand.
Our exclusive three-part video series with Stephen Fry, the British author, actor, and presenter. One of the world’s top minds, Fry spoke to us about automation, upskilling, the ethical implications of artificial intelligence, and mental wellbeing. This truly is an unmissable, eye-opening commentary into the future of work for employers and employees.
The month of December also saw the launch of our inaugural quarterly economic series featuring Mark Blyth, the world-leading economist who predicted both the fate of Donald Trump and Brexit. Blyth spoke to UNLEASH’S CEO and Founder Marc Coleman about the state of the world economy, the ties between COVID-19 and productivity, and the future of the labor force. The series is split into four parts and there’s certainly something for everyone!
Our brand new report found that the vast majority (84%) of recently launched HR projects failed. Depressing as it may be to think that only a mere 16% of initiatives had been successful, we’re here to reassure you that you don’t have to suffer the same fate. Our report includes plenty of exclusive insight to help you avoid common mistakes and establish best practices to achieve better outcomes. So, go ahead and download your free copy!
HR tech companies attracted over $1.6 billion from venture capital investors during the third quarter of 2020. To put this into context, the investments were spread out across 67 deals and this made Q3 2020 the second-largest quarter for HR tech VC investment in the past three years. This is a clear indicator that investors are increasingly watching the application of technology in the world of work and I for one can’t see this changing.
Just when you thought the HR function had endured enough change to last a lifetime…it’s changing — again. Marketing is about influencing choices and going forward talent management and modern HR will be too. Employees aren’t just “human resources,” but collaborators. Adam Yearsley, Global Head of Talent at Red Bull, explains why in this super insightful article.
One of the things I’m most grateful for this year is the newfound interest in diversity and inclusion — a crucial ingredient in a company’s recipe for success and a key step towards a better society. You don’t have to take my word for it, though, because data shows that gender-diverse companies are 15% more likely to outperform their peers. This article by Kristen Weirick is a must-read for the holidays and beyond.
Happy reading and Merry Christmas!
